Sisters and brothers, in this fourth week of Ordinary Time, we come to the completion of our journey through the magnificent letter to the Hebrews. We hear for the sake of the joy that lay before him, Jesus endured the cross despite its shame.
And it tells us in the letter to the Hebrews as we come to these concluding chapters to focus on Christ, to focus on His example, look at the sin in our lives, not as the destruction of our lives, but as the place where Christ will bring healing to us.
And then we are invited, as the letter says, to let love continue. Our call is to follow the one who led us into eternal life by bringing life to those around us.
Let us in these days in which there’s so much tension in our world and in our society, let us be the people who help love to continue.
So, the letter to the Hebrews concludes: It’s worth hearing and listening once again. “Remember your leaders who spoke the Word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their Faith.” Let us imitate those who have led in the way of love. And remember, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let us fix our gaze on Him.
