Jesus said: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. “ Matthew 19:14
Jesus called us to welcome children in His name. St. Theresa, the Little Flower, taught us we can become like children by knowing the joy of little things through small acts of service, prayer, and the little way that leads to God. Here at St. Theresas, we honor our Baptismal call and our patron, St. Theresa.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word is your child’s gateway to a joyful and enriching Sunday Mass experience. We recognize that children absorb and engage with their faith uniquely, so we are excited to offer this program most Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Mass except when we have a Baptism (third Sunday of the month).
Children from Pre-K through second grade are dismissed after the introductory rites of the Mass. This time during Mass, led by experienced catechists, allows children to hear the Sunday Gospel reading and a reflection in an age-appropriate format. Children then have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the Gospel reading. We learn and recite the Creed and say the Prayers of the Faithful together through song.
Our goal with The Little Flowers Ministry is to create an atmosphere of curiosity, joy, and connection to the teachings of Jesus. By providing age-appropriate experiences, we hope to plant the seeds of faith that will grow with your child throughout their lives.
Afterward, the children return to Mass before the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Any child may participate. No registration is necessary. For more information, please visit the Children’s Liturgy of the Word Frequently Asked Questions or contact Josephine Balgos Le at 346-335-1808.
