♦ We, in Communion with each other, share the consecrated host during the Sunday Mass with those who are unable to attend. ♦ The Holy Eucharist is taken directly to the homebound as an extension of the Mass.
HOW CAN I SERVE? Once a month, visit an assigned group of homebound parishioners where you:
♦ Take the Holy Eucharist to their home or hospital, pray with them, and distribute the Holy Eucharist. ♦ Let the homebound know that they are sharing in the Eucharist that was just celebrated at the altar in communion with the parish as a whole. ♦ Bring a parish bulletin for each individual so they continue to feel part of the parish community.
TRAINING ♦ All new homebound ministers must first have gone through Eucharistic ministry training. ♦ Before embarking on homebound trips, ministers are required to go through an informal training with a member of the ministry. ♦ A member of the ministry will accompany the new member on their initial visits. ♦ All ministers may be asked to attend a yearly training session as needed.
There is a regular yearly schedule for those who minister which includes names, addresses, and phone numbers of homebound members in each of three groups.
