  • First Communion Sacramental Preparation

Helping our children to know Christ, primarily through the Sacraments, is the mission of our Sacramental Prep program. We partner with parents in preparing the minds and hearts of our children to receive the healing Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, both of which are ways Christ fulfills his promise to remain with us. Every time we go to Reconciliation and receive God’s forgiveness, He is with us.  Every time we go to mass and receive Jesus in the Eucharist, He miraculously is with us.

Celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation & Holy Communion for the first time is typically celebrated in the second grade (special arrangements are made for older children to receive this sacrament). In the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, children must attend Catholic faith formation classes or Catholic School for at least two consecutive years in preparation for First Sacraments. If your child is in the 2nd grade or above and is in the 2nd continuous year of Faith Formation or the 2nd continuous year of religion classes in Catholic School, contact Kendall Solé for more information 713-869-3783  or k.sole@sttheresa.cc.
NOTE: Children enrolled in Catholic school are not required to attend faith formation
in 1st grade as they are receiving instruction through school.
